Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson has welcomed a big drop in the number of people out of work in the borough.
Figures for June show the number of unemployed claimants in Pendle in June was 1,305.
This represents a rate of 3.2% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64. The number of claimants is 568 lower than in June, 2013 and 78 lower than in May, 2014.
Mr Stephenson said: “The latest fall in unemployment in Pendle shows the Government’s long term economic plan is helping get people back to work.
“I regularly meet with representatives of Pendle’s two Job Centre’s and am very encouraged by news of a rising number of vacancies and record numbers in work.
“There is still a lot more to do to help people back into work, but this is great news for families across Pendle.”
